1. Bobby Boogie Bear was struttin' ‘round the park.
He looked up in the tree because he heard a lark.
And what do you think Bobby Bear did see?
He saw a picnic basket hanging in the tree!
2. He thought to himself: "Oh, I'd feel so fine
If I could only make that picnic basket mine.
In this delicate situation
A bear could lose his fine reputation."
3. He knew the picnic basket he would have to reject.
He summoned all his self-control and self-respect.
He knew, even if no one would see
He shouldn't take someone else's property.
4. He left that campsite feeling proud.
He danced down the pathway singing loud:
"From me what else would you expect—
I'm a boogie bear you can respect."
5. The story ended as it should:
Bobby Bear walked away feeling very good.
He did what a decent bear would do;
I hope you'd do the same thing too! © MLP 2009
This Song is mostly about self-respect:
Bobby felt good about himself because he
chose to leave a picnic basket alone that didn’t belong to him. This also meant that he respected someone else’s property.
